Topic: White Bass Fishing the Llano River and Central Texas
Forrest West, a member of the Texas Hill Country Fly Fishers, will give a presentation on fishing the Llano River for white bass at the March 20th meeting. Forrest has provided the following information about himself. We are hoping that you will be able to attend this presentation. You need not be a member of the Austin Fly Fishers to attend.
I have been fly fishing for 20 plus years and I have been beekeeping for just as long. As a professional beekeeper I have been able to access most of our rivers and streams through my work and I have meet some wonderful people. I run 400 beehives in the Hill Country with my brother and we also raise sheep on our ranch.
I have been tying flies since I was 8 years old. I have fished my own flies for bass, carp and panfish. I tie for saltwater fishing on the Gulf Coast. I also tie for trout and steelhead for my out of state trips.
I fish any water I find, but rivers and creeks are my favorite. Fly fishing from a kayak or a canoe lets you see a lot of water and you get the best position to cast. The Llano and the Pedernales Rivers are my home water along with countless creeks in between.
For the past ten years I have been building and restoring fly rods. Restoring and rebuilding old bamboo rods has been a focus for the past few years.
